Young Musicians

The Local Heat of the Tonbridge Rotary Young Musicians Competition 2026, organised by Rotarian Barry Ednie, took place on Sunday, 23rd November at Somerhill School, Tonbridge. The Club appreciates the school’s support in providing the venue.

Seven exceptional young musicians, ranging from ten to sixteen years old, captivated an audience of sixty with their remarkable performances. Each young artist showcased their unique talent through a diverse musical repertoire, demonstrating the passion and dedication that defines the next generation of performers.

This inspiring event provided these talented individuals with a valuable opportunity to receive feedback from three independent adjudicators and to advance through progressive competition stages. Their journey could ultimately lead them to the prestigious National Final, recognised by both the Royal Society of Music and the renowned BBC Young Musician of the Year — a testament to the incredible potential that emerges when young people pursue their dreams with commitment and courage.

Three entrants from the Rotary Club of Tonbridge event advanced to the District Final, reflecting the high calibre of performances. The winner was Amelie Lucas, with Isabelle Garland and Mya Wong as runners-up.
